"I want to be just like her when I grow up"
I think to an extent we are all influenced by charterers in movies and books. I catch myself start dressing
like them, saying things they would say, some times it even affects my
body language and accent. I've been this way since I was a child. In no
way am I saying that I'm fake or trying to be someone I'm not . All of the people I find interesting ended up being small pieces of who I am today.
"I go to my closet every day and I ask myself 'Who do
I feel like being today?' Whichever persona I am feeling,
my style corresponds to it. Today I want to be a witch or a kawaii princess, tomorrow I might want to be a flowerchild
or a moden day Audrey Hepburn, it just depends on
what mood I'm in"
Sometimes I wonder why I ended up doing particular things. Why do I like to smoke cigarettes? Why do I find women doing their hair and makeup so beautiful? Why do I find a person with a wild heart a dirty mouth more interesting than a person who is reserved and polite? I have to think this goes back to the charterers I idolized in movies or some of the songs I have heard or magazine pictures I've seen. I understand that has a lot to do with the media influence. However I also feel it's almost essential to building who we are and figuring out what we like. We take small pieces of people and things we covet and find beautiful and incorporate them into our beings. Some times it's completely on purpose others I think it's our subconscious portraying all of the beautiful things and traits we have collected over time.
When I was younger I remember watching "That Night" which was made in 1992. I was about 5 when I seen it. Juliette Lewis is the first fictional character I remember intriguing. the way she smoked a cigarette even looked cool, she fascinated me.Her energy was something I wanted. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. Being young and ignorant to a lot, I only seen what I wanted to see with her. Her character portrays the ultimate bad girl.Still, there is something about her I still find intoxicating. She is just one example. There are several characters that have shaped me into who I am today and have a lot to do with the styles I like. Here are just a few...
All in all, I wouldn't be who I am today without these movies
I am planning on doing a part two with who influences me now in newer movies. Hope you liked it. I didn't write as much as I wanted but I have been promising to post this since forever. I might add some more writing later.
All of those movies are awesome. Seriously, I wore my Now and Then VHS tape out like completely.
